Located in Sausalito, CA, the Center for Childhood Creativity (CCC) was founded in 2011 by the Bay Area Discovery Museum (BADM) to bridge the gap between academic research in the fields of neuroscience, education, psychology, and creativity studies with the practitioners charged with raising a generation of future innovators.
CCC provides the cutting-edge research framework behind BADM’s programming, creating a positive feedback loop: the museum’s programs are based on CCC’s research frameworks, and CCC accesses BADM’s audiences and programs to inform its research endeavors.
CCC also works at a national scale to advance research in the field of creativity development and to put this research into practice for the benefit of children, caretakers, and educators. CCC authors white papers that synthesize key academic studies; partners with outside researchers to facilitate research at BADM; presents at leading industry conferences; and provides advisory services to schools, museums, libraries, nonprofits and companies that directly influence children’s development.
CCC’s work is grounded in research and best practices and we are committed to sharing our learning through digital dissemination of research and curriculum through national partnerships with libraries, science centers, other nonprofits and corporations.
